Job Summary:
The Information Asset Manager is responsible for overseeing the management and utilization of information assets within the organization. This role involves developing strategies, implementing policies, and ensuring the effective organization, storage, retrieval, and dissemination of information across various platforms. The Information Asset Manager plays a critical role in optimizing the value of information assets and driving data-driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive information asset management strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the efficient organization and utilization of information resources.
2. Identify, assess, and categorize information assets to facilitate effective management and retrieval, ensuring compliance with established standards and regulations.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and document information asset requirements, including metadata, taxonomies, and data dictionaries.
4. Establish and maintain data governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to data quality standards, security protocols, and privacy regulations.
5. Oversee the acquisition, licensing, and utilization of information assets, ensuring optimal usage and cost-effectiveness.
6. Monitor and evaluate the performance of information assets, identifying opportunities for enhancement and improvement.
7. Develop and implement information asset retention and archiving strategies, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
8. Collaborate with IT teams to establish and maintain an efficient infrastructure to support the storage, retrieval, and security of information assets.
9. Provide guidance and support to end-users in effectively accessing and utilizing information assets.
10. Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to information asset management, recommending innovative approaches for continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science, Information Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Proven experience in information asset management, preferably within a library or information science environment.
3. In-depth knowledge of information management principles, practices, and methodologies.
4. Strong understanding of metadata standards, taxonomies, and data classification systems.
5. Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data quality management, and data security protocols.
6. Proficient in utilizing information management systems, databases, and content management tools.
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex information requirements.
8. Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
9. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
10. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in managing and organizing information assets.
